"Moreover, she can read a person's desires to a certain extent from their manner of speech, expression, gestures, and so on, even if they don't directly put them into words. This is thought to be due to the power of her inference being far superior to a human's. In an instant, she can read what a person desires, and the main factor that caused the desire to shape the person. Her power is close to mind reading, but it differs in that while the latter reads a person's memories and current thoughts, the former reads their constitution and future."
So it's really weird mind reading that isn't based on reading actual thoughts, but instead looks into a person's future and scans their desires (as opposed to straight up thoughts) to predict what they're going to do (desires tend to manifest as little things that look like ghosts; no joke.) Apparently it can also work backwards somehow, because she's looked into Reimu's past, as well.
ANYWAY. Her ability is weird. But it's a different kind of weird than normal weird:
- Can Miko scan your character's desires, finding out what they want most? She might even grant them!
- Can Miko scan their desires and future, thus putting into motion a prediction of their actions in the future?
- Can she do whatever the heck it is she does to reverse it and use her abilities to look into their past to either help find out their future or just figure out what she needs to know about them?
- If yes, what other little things can she find out by reading desires?
